Google the following and fill in the first choice

1: Type in “[your name] needs” in the Google search:

Tara needs to be in one place long enough to establish a trusting relationship with a good, interested, capable therapist.

That is so so so funny.

2: Type in “[your name] looks like” in Google search:

Tara looks like her hair was ripped out at the root in a horrific head-Hoovering accident.

Do I really look that bad?

3: Type in “[your name] does” in Google search:

Tara does amazing things in Idaho!

I’ve never even been to Idaho (!).

4: Type in “[your name] hates” in Google search:

Tara hates the 4th of July, too.

No, I don’t.  I hate other days, but not that one.

5: Type in “[your name] goes to” in Google search:

Tara goes to Hogwart’s.

Yay!!!

6: Type in “[your name] loves” in Google search:

Tara loves cats!

Yay, again!!!

7: Type in “[your name] eats” in Google search:

Tara eats Seattle.

The whole thing?  Really?  That’s a lot of chewing.

8: Type in “[your name] has” in Google search:

Tara has a banana boat full of letters.

That’s a really weird thing to have.

9: Type in “[your name] died” in Google Search:

Tara died in 4 minutes…

Creepy.

10: Type in “[your name] will” in Google search:

The glory of Tara will never fade.

Sweet!

Things to ponder?

More epic?  Going to Disney Land whilst the It’s a Small World ride is closed for renovations but still riding Splash Mountain and being photographed on the tea cups or attending the kick-off concert of American Idol 2008, and witnessing 1 million prepubescent girls scream and never have to say your sorry for joining in and feeling like a kid again?
(Was I biased on that one?)

I’ve never been to Disney Land, but I have been to Disney World twice.  Let me put this in perspective for you though, I haven’t been to Disney World since 1984.  Do you know what was at Disney World in 1984?  A bunch of rides, a quarter of Epcot and certainly nothing very cool when you were smashed into a car with no air conditioning and seven people and you drove all the way to Florida from New Hampshire in the summer.

I am going to relish every moment of my Idol experience this Tuesday evening in Glendale, AZ, David Cook may even be singing to me, you don’t know.  I may even buy a t-shirt, we’ll see.

(This topic was generated from a series of text messages between me and my friend; he’s enjoying the high life in California while I was here at home pondering what to blog about… he stirs up the best topics.)

Something else to ponder: why do I love unabashedly  Ace Ventura Pet Detective but still hate venomously Dumb and Dumber ?  What’s wrong with me?

Face of a generation.

June 28th, 2008

It’s hard for me to even present this little nugget to you without bursting into laughter and tears, and in all honesty Mike offered this opinion to me completely serious.

Mike: “I think Pauly Shore was a really important figure from our past*… not the actual guy Pauly Shore, but the character Pauly Shore.”

*something to that effect

You heard that right.  My highly educated, very successful, brilliant minded husband thinks that Pauly Shore, the character, defines our generation, was an important figure in history and was one of the most influential character actors of our time.

Again, I’m not kidding.

Let’s examine:

-his career started, as himself, on MTV, hosting Totally Pauly in 1988.  We were 13 so I could see how completely idiotic bathroom humor and looking at girl’s breasts were the hot ticket to a boy about to go through puberty.

-Coined “Hey, Buddy!”, the “Wiez”; and some of my favorite movie quotes of all time include and are not limited to the following:

No weezing the ju-uice.

Look, Steven Tyler peejays!

Can I call you “General Sweetpants”?

Shave the poochie poochie!

-I could watch Encino Man and Son in Law probably back to back all weekend long because they are mindless movies that remind me of when everything was neon and plastic, when the early ’90s were fun because we were all still stuck in the ’80s.

(and I love how that bad bad movie was promoted, “If you liked Wayne’s World…” not even comparable.  And people forget that Sean Astin, Lord of the Dorks, was in this movie.  On the other hand, it’s worth watching just to see Brendan Fraser’s hot body.

I’m getting off topic.

-Bio-Dome- Mike is convinced that this is one of the greatest comedies of our time, daresay greatest movies of all time.  Although I have a place in my heart for Mr Shore, I can assure you that I do not rank this movie any where near my top ten movies of all time.  He also thinks that this was Stephen Baldwin’s best work.  I have to say his best work was in this past season of The Celebrity Apprentice, where he played the sneaky villainous Jesus freak.

In conclusion, love him or hate him, as most people do, I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Pauly Shore shaped the face of our generation.  I mean, we are Generation X, and really we have our own bad rap already: losers, slackers, bane… we certainly don’t need the D+ comedy of say Jury Duty or In The Army Now to bring us any further down.  But if you take those movies and the annoying yet slapstickling funny and memorable comedy of Pauly Shore with the proverbial grain of salt then it’s okay.  Because if we are the generation without a face at least one of comedy, laughter and goofiness is better than the alternative.

-See, he’s just a regular Joe now.

I suppose it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

June 27th, 2008

That was today. Tomorrow I have something I need to blog about because it is probably the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time, and I can’t rush through it. It’s ridiculous but the person who gave me the idea was so straight forward serious that most of the humor came in his conviction. Other than that tomorrow I’m going to sit on the couch, watch a lot of what evers on Bravo or VH1, and make a good dinner.

It’s the exciting life I lead. I am going to restrict myself to iTunes downloads, because I’m like a chubby girl in a bakery filling my iPod daily with tasty treats… so, I have to cut down because that really adds up and I need a little self-control (this analogy needs also to be applied for when I’m in an actual bakery). I did get my fix today with Keith Urban’s new greatest hits album. He’s a hot tamale, that’s for sure. I’m sure I’ve said that I’m slowly getting into country music, it really has to have a certain sound for me to take to it though. I like steel guitars and those little guitars, what are they? Anyhow, a little twang is charming but I still can’t do some country sounds and it’s hard to describe what they are but when I hear them I’m just not sure if I can process them the right way, I mean in a genuine way, the way that incessant grungy feedback is sweet sweet music to my ears. You know what I’m saying? But this guy, I like. I can only describe his voice like if Bryan Adams wasn’t Canadian or rock, he would be Keith Urban, and vice versa, if Keith Urban wasn’t Australian or country, he’d be… you get what I’m saying. Good stuff.

Mike met that guy, you know that guy, at his convention in Chicago this past weekend.  So he can say that he spent our anniversary with that crazy question mark guy from TV.  I love Mike’s face in this picture… really a face only a wife could love:

-Clean car; I mean do I just have a backseat for junk mail and sweatshirts, really?

-Sort my clothes and separate out those going to Goodwill and those I could still send to people I like, meaning embarrassing stuff to the poor and stuff with tags to friends.

-Sleep in and eat fruit pies, there’s an obvious order to this.

-Watch Moulin Rouge! because I’ve never seen it before and that’s weird.

-Remove all laundry from the dining room table because I can’t get on Mike’s ass for dressing from the table if my crap is on there too.

-Email my sister.

…do you throw them a line?  Or do you let them fall?

I hate saying that a lot is changing, because everything is alway in a state of flux, and it has to be.  When you know something to be true and someone or something challenges it, do you care or are you tired of caring?  I care and with that same amount of conviction, I don’t care.  I’m so on the fence when it comes to admitting that something affects me.  But how much does it really affect me?  Do I wane interest just not to come off as cold or indifferent?  When people around me are taking up arms about something, how much is my interaction with it genuine?  Not much, really.  Does that make me self-centered or just particular?

I don’t want to step back from a fight, but when it comes to victory I’m not just looking at that battle, I’m looking at my war.  The war extends lifetimes and isn’t contained to just my feelings, or your feelings, it transcends those boundaries.  I can get on my soapbox about something, shout it from the rooftops, but in the end I’m only shouting the needs of so few.  What then is the difference of just shouting my own then?

June 22nd, 2008

is on Tuesday and to celebrate selling on Etsy for one year I am offering free shipping on all of my listings!

I am amazed and proud that I have stuck with this for an entire year, and actually now that I think of it I never doubted that I could do it for a year.  Sure I questioned my choices, relearned things, found out new ways of expressing myself and sometimes, maybe just a little, tiny, wee bit doubted my worth.  But that’s growing and improving and challenging myself to be better.

I thank you for supporting me, encouraging me and believing in me.  You have done so much more than look on as a friend, you have helped me as a person, an artist and as an achiever.  I am forever indebted to your strength, thank you.

Here’s to my next year with Etsy and with you…
