October 2nd, 2008

First off let me say Happy Birthday to Ricky Doo! He’s 20 today so I have to stop using words like “kid” and “teenager”, not that I did in the first place. Anyhow, here’s to many more, kiddo!

I wanted to share some new pieces I’ve recently created for my Etsy shop:

Dreams of Paris

In Your House

Thanks for everybody’s kind and encouraging words so far on these new ideas and where I’m taking my shop, it means the most!

September 30th, 2008

I feel like I’ve been away from my Etsy shop for too long! So many other things clamoring for my attention and I’m finally breaking free from that unhealthy pattern. I don’t know why when the going gets tough I let go of the things that keep me happy?

So I’m finally getting back into the pattern of creativity, at least again with my hands and not just with my words. Channeling what’s in my mind emotionally into the physical world is a challenge for me, but I’ve just finished some new pieces for my jewelry shop, SadieAndLeo.etsy.com that I am extremely excited about and will be listing in the next few days.

I also gave my shop a little refurbish, sorely needed too. I love this banner and avatar artist, CoffeyHouse Collection by decafjnr. She makes some really beautiful shop banners and the one I had previously I loved so much I decided to go back to her and chose a new one. Here it is, isn’t it wonderful:

It really fits the feel of my shop now, or at least the feel I had imagined in my head and now the two match. I’m excited for what I’m starting to put out there now, it energizes me and makes me feel good again, creatively.

April 27th, 2008

For this final week of April I feel like celebrating such a great month by having a sale in my Etsy shop. I am so happy with the way things are coming around, creatively that is, that I’m feeling like I want to share it with you and here’s a little incentive. Hint hint. No pressure of course, we all know I’m my own worst salesperson.

Now through Wednesday, 15% off all selections, including sale items, in my Etsy shop.

Have a purple customer appreciation coupon to my shop? I’ll double it! 30% off for returning customers!

Wait for updated invoices before paying or I will happily and promptly refund you! Be sure to include you coupon code for those redeeming customer appreciation coupons!

Thank you for your continued support!

Wow, that was fun… and I’ve got the injury to prove it.

April 15th, 2008

Ever just psych yourself out of doing something because you have already decided that you’re going to suck at it? I do that all of the time.

A few weeks ago one of my regular buyers asked me through the Alchemy to make her stud earrings in specific colors. I have shied away from doing studs because, well… I don’t really know. I must have had a reason before. After today I can’t think of why I never tried them. Maybe it is because I don’t wear studs. That isn’t it. Maybe I was afraid that I couldn’t find the right this-or-that. Maybe I foresaw a battle with a tube of glue?

Long story short, I made these today and I’m in love:

I think sometimes I forget that simple makes a statement too.

I’m glad that this wonderful person asked me to make these. We don’t know each other, she found me through my jewelry shop and we have done business for a couple of months now, and I know she will adore these as she has already given me great compliments and thanks for them only by their photographs. I’m glad that an almost stranger pushed me a little bit, unknowingly into trying something new. I’m really excited for things to come. I’ve got that spark back that I needed. The spark wasn’t that far gone but sometimes you just need someone to light it up again.

P.S.- Injury came from super glue… I’m recovering nicely.  And no hard work is good work without a little injury.
