(I adore this and I always have; just started DVRing scores of episodes of The Golden Girls too because it actually makes me LaughOutLoud.)

January 9th, 2009
Ha! Comedy. That’s funny, 200-9. Wow. I’ve been alive since ‘75, don’t really remember ‘79, ‘89 f*cking blew, hell I was 14, a lost teenager. 1999 pretty much rocked, I was thin, clueless and drunk all of the time. So 2009. Odd numbered year too, and you know how I feel about those. (And if you don’t, I’ll recap: don’t like odd numbered years, mostly, but since the number 9 isn’t a prime number I think I’ll be alright. Being divisible by 3 and all, I’m left with a little doubt since 3 isn’t divisible by anything.)
I was waiting for this big thing to get me to write again. As you can see I didn’t make my 365 posts last year. Eff that. My favorite quote used to be “write what you know” but now it’s “blogging stops when living begins” or something to that effect. I’m not lazy, I’m busy. Much praise and envy goes out to those who really do blog every day, that’s m-effing impressive because it is soul sucking and nearly impossible. And I’m not talking the days I was sick or injured or out of state, I’m talking those days when I was outta my mind stressed, overwhelmed, involved, insane, delirious. Sure I had the best intentions of letting it all out, and it was never the part of letting out to have others read it, it was letting it out so I could read it. That’s the hard part. Admittance. Anyhow, beyond all of that crap like “I was trying to keep it in”, “I wasn’t sure how to say it”, “I didn’t know how people would take it”… I’m done with that. I’m also done with pretense and avoidance. And I thought I was ready for that a year ago… silly, silly Tara.
But what would bring me to blog again. Christmas? Nope. I was too busy watching awesome holiday specials on t.v. New Years? Nope. I was playing Guitar Hero. This realization that I don’t have to have any one in mind when I blog? No, that’s been done. In the true spirit of ME, it happens to be the end of Stargate Atlantis.
Oh yeah, you heard me right.
My world pretty much spins on an axis of cake, down-time, crafty things and sci-fi. A few years ago, in the wake of the demise of a one horrendously bad/canceled Star Trek series, Mike was watching the SciFi channel and he stumbled upon Stargate SG-1. Nope, I was good. I didn’t need it. Dumb. Dumb concept. Didn’t get it. But one day he was watching it and I sat with him on the couch and I was sucked in. Oh, was I sucked in. Loved it, hooked, addicted. It filled the void; that void I had since STDS9 ended in ‘99 (oh, a 9 year reference). I loved the characters, the whole focus of the series and it wrapped the techy crap I like nicely with lots of guns and explosions. Damn, it had McGyver in it. How could you not love that? And aliens. Brilliant.
Of course that series sadly ended after ten illustrious years and the spin-off arrived and although dorks may disagree, but take into account how much Empire Strikes Back blew its predecessor out of the water, Stargate Atlantis was even better than the original. Loved it, hooked, addicted. And now it’s ending and only after 5 years. 100 episodes is all we have. Suppose it’s in the vain of Babylon 5, but at least going into that one you knew it was going to be five years, the dude had the whole thing written already (but no one really cares about the last season being that there’s no more Bruce Boxleitner and that whole Newhart ending crap.)
So I have no more weekly fix of sci-fi. That’s like a fish without water. This is the turning point. This is what gets me to blog.
My world will spin a little differently now. At least I still have cake. And the new Trek movie coming out in May. Better not suck.
My only new years resolution is: write when I want to write and write about anything.

Tonight Heroes premieres, finally. And Prison Break is in full swing. Unfortunately I won’t be able to record Dancing With The Stars because there are just so many things I can record at once, so I’ll be having to watch that on-line tomorrow. New TV update in my abode: it looks like I will be getting the hook up to the satellite dish in my room soon! Sweet, seriously get me a toilet, a fridge and a hibachi and will I ever really need to leave the confines of these walls?
I know, I’m lame.
Now that the “neutral” situation is taken care of I look forward to photographing my new necklaces for my Etsy shop and finally getting them listed. I’m working on a special order and it has been so long it feels good to get back into it all. I like the direction my shop is taking in my head I just need to translate that into my shop, and I think it’s time for a policies and profile change too. In light of recent events and feedback maybe it’s time to be more concise and more resolute on my whole approach to the business end of my jewelry making.
Maybe I just need to be a bitch, you know, like I am in mostly every other part of my life.

I’m so behind on my blogging.
My Google Reader runneth over.
Smallville and Survivor start tonight.
I really don’t want to do anything I should be doing. I want to make necklaces and watch old Stargates.
This juice is really good.

I didn’t necessarily want to continue on the theme kick this month, but I plan on blogging a lot about all of the television I watch so why not make September TV month? A lot of people go back to school in the month of September and growing up we always went back to school after Labor Day. I also remember TV shows would start up right when school started but we weren’t allowed to watch TV like normal kids did; does that relate to my vast television viewing as an adult? You’re damn right it does.
Prison Break started up again tonight, 2 hour premiere actually. And it did not disappoint. It’s on FOX and it’s one of those shows that if you haven’t really watched from the beginning well, you can still get a long okay, but you’re missing so much meaty goodness. The show didn’t suck me in at first, I had been an avid watcher (still am) of 24 and when the previews for Prison Break started I discounted it as a show I wouldn’t be interested in or wouldn’t be interesting. I tried it out when I used to Netflix on a whim, mostly because I was bored with everything else, and I was quickly hooked. I mean obsessed. It is masterfully written with such intricate character development. I watched the entire first season again last year when I was sick. It’s that good.
Oh and then there’s this reason to watch:
FYI: this is not the first time I’ve blogged about Prison Break, this is. It’s that good!

As far as I know only two of us got up early and had to be at work by 7 this morning so I’m taking today off from anything too blog-involved and am going to watch Andromeda Strain on A&E instead. It’s a new version, I’ll let you know how it goes.

I know! Two TV posts back to back. Now you all have an inkling into how lame I really am.
Who cares, right? I’m a well educated person, I can watch and comment on all of the TV I want to. I think I just ended with a preposition. Moving on.
They announced the line-up for the next Dancing With The Stars series and I have to say I am impressed. At first glance I actually recognize all of the people on the billing, I couldn’t say the same thing last time around. I mean who really knew who Helio Castroneves was before DWTS? The cast for this season (and I bring you this public service announcement not only from myself but from Jenn who is previously engaged at the moment, but I know that she would want you to know).
Adam Carolla- with Julianne Huff- he doesn’t even know how lucky he is; they figured she won two years in a row, give her a dud.

Cristian De La Fuente- okay, so I don’t reeeally recognize him but he’s Latin and hot so that’s all that matters.

Shannon Elizabeth- Sometimes pretty and sometimes yucky. Depends. She’s paired with the Huff boy and he could make anyone look good.

Steve Guttenberg- at least it isn’t that tool from Full House… what’s his name? Bob Saget.

Penn Jillette- already my favorite. But you know he is going to be like Frankenstein on his feet, and I don’t mean like Peter Boyle as Frankenstein singing “Putting on the Ritz”.

Mario- because Karina Smirnoff hasn’t danced with enough Mario’s yet.

Wait, wrong Mario… that’s a nice fur lined hoodie.

Marlee Matlin- The Jane Seymour and Heather Mills all rolled into one. I mean no disrespect here. I just mean you’re getting the best here.

Priscilla Presley- What can I say? By the end of her run she will cat-fight with Carrie Ann Inaba and bitch slap Bruno Tonioli, not that he doesn’t deserve it.

Monica Seles- I couldn’t find a picture of her where she wasn’t making this face. I wonder if she will make this face while she dances.

Jason Taylor- Rwwwwwrooooooarrrrrr… purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…

Ummm, I mean:

Marissa Jaret Winokur- The wild card? The sleeper? The Cheetah girl?

Kristi Yamaguchi

So it should be for interesting TV viewing so long as they don’t have Drew Lachay co-hosting, don’t get me wrong he did OK last year but he is just so bumbly in front of… people.
DWTS you are my guilty guilty pleasure… that and double stuffed Oreos.
Damn you, double stuffed.
