Ah, there are rational feeling people out there in the world… still!
This has all been resolved and I am so happy for it. All’s well that ends well, I suppose. And there is nothing gained if nothing is ven… tured, er, something like that. I love cliches.
In short, I ain’t too proud to beg.
(And you were expecting The Temptations.)

Football season is under way and I’m not watching any of it. I suppose on the surface it can be easily explained, Brady’s out for the season. Or last season was such a major disappointment I’m just not over it yet. Or my heart’s just not into it anymore. Admittedly, it is the latter.
I caught about four minutes of tonights game between the Eagles and the Cowboys. At the looks of things it was measuring up to be a pretty exciting Monday night game… but it held no interest for me like it did last year, and the year before, and the years before. Football’s my thing, it always has been but this year I’m not sure what my thing is anymore.
Why is it so easy for some to just lay their cards on the table, why do some just fold and walk away? Am I leaving when the deck is hot, or should I cash in? Why do I suddenly want to YouTube The Gambler?

I want to make you feel the loss of your footing. Step out on to the edge and forget where you came from. You deny me and I walk away, will I be gone forever? Or if I do come back to you, will you be waiting?

I was iTuning this morning and I don’t know why I have never owned any Fall Out Boy, so there I was click click clicking and I came across Love Will Tear Us Apart. What? That’s Joy Division. That’s m*therf*cking Joy Division, you can’t do that! That’s like taking Love Song by The Cure and putting a reggae beat to it… oh, wait that nightmare did happen… anyhow. I was curious, so I listened. Now, I have a hard time really really liking covers of my favorite bands of all time. But this one?… it’s respectable, and a little odd and out of place that they would chose such a “soundtrack to my life” song. I mean this one’s a classic and if you don’t know it, know it:
Of course after YouTubing it I discovered that tons of people, good and bad, have indeed covered it. Holy crap, even Arcade Fire and U2 get a go at it, albeit a rousing and crowd pleasing version, without the pain and angst behind even the one that Fall Out Boy seems to still capture. I mean that’s balls… to take on an anthem, alone with only a guitar, kudos:

Mike and I were sitting here watching a selection from our DVR, an episode of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern where he travels to Bolivia. It just so happens that in Bolivia they raise and eat llamas. I happen to love llamas and alpacas for that matter. Aside from the fact that I hate that people would eat llamas, I don’t tend to judge people’s practices in other countries when it comes to culinary delights, unless of course those delights includes cruelty to people. That’s neither here nor there.
Mike started to ask me if I remembered the little llama short from Sesame Street and I immediately remembered it! And because of the magic of YouTube, here you go:
